Online “Persona Management” - part 3

A week after I took down my old, outdated site, the new site is being indexed pretty well. The previous version was showing up in Google with the title “Up” - not sure why, and had some pretty goofy graphics and links on it (my fault, yes). Now the title is “Feather Hickox” and this blog is being indexed quite well.

There is still a secondary result in Google that links to a resume I took down when I updated the site - the page is an “error 404, page not found”, so hopefully it will be purged from the results set pretty quickly.

An interesting ad showed up when I tested the search results for “feather hickox” - a link to “create your google profile”. I didn’t take them up on it, but it looked interesting. I’m curious if anybody is using Google Profiles to help manage their online presence - I will be poking around later today.

Of course, just like cleaning out the closet, when I got rid of the embarrassing shoes, I found a box of old hats that needs to be sorted through. I had set up a Wordpress blog ages ago, and now that’s showing up on page 1 of Google. I’ll be cleaning that up next, sigh.
